A humble family from northern Uganda's town of Lira that suffered from the insurgency caused by the rebel Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) has successfully established a much-needed school, supported by a team from the United Kingdom. The family with a very humble background witnessed the horror of the LRA, which destroy the education system in the region. After some of their relatives died in the war and there was no opportunity to access better schools because of the looming poverty. One of their sons (Okello Augustine Kezzy) motivated through a government sponsorship to acquire a university education, now have an opportunity to serve the local community.
Through the assistance of a non-profit Christian organization, he got an opportunity to start a school that will eventually allow many children from Northern and Eastern Uganda access to education.
This school project was spotted by a team from Holy Trinity Church South well in the UK which took the initiative to raise the much-needed funds to steer the modern school facilities as a way of supporting disadvantaged children of Uganda. This team raised over $250,000 to help the construction work, and the new campus is scheduled to be opened for use by the school on March 22, 2019.
