From the time life first began, before the instigation of the industrial revolution which began in Great Britain and later revolutionized into what the society believes to be indispensable due to its outstanding workforce regarding the ease of human effort. Organisms (man as the subject) have been engaged in less battle against foreign harmful substances (xenobiotic) in other for survival and to maintain constant biochemical homeostasis which is one of the essential parameters determining the rate of reaction and enzymatic processes giving increase to life span.
The body cells were made less stressed, and various biochemical activities were under normal physiochemical and metabolic rate if not less fluctuating giving birth to increase in longevity of an organism. Longevity depends on what an organism take-in, how it is absorbed, utilized within the body tissues, and its reaction within the body tissues accompanying its storage and its elimination from the body if it is eliminated or not”.
As knowledge began to grow in industrial technology, which gave birth to industrial revolution, humans (organisms) began to experience a great battle to adapt to changes in environmental conditions. In the course of this evolutionary struggle, living organisms have encountered a wide array of potential toxic foreign chemicals of both biotic and abiotic origin predisposed by industrial revolution.
Despite the natural and the acquired effective biochemical defense systems build-in an organism against modern foreign synthetic chemicals explore by industries and the naturally occurring chemicals, organisms find it difficult to eliminate these foreign noxious chemical substances without leaving behind potential harm.
The question now is? How long would living creatures continue to be under the influence of these foreign noxious substances? Would life creatures finally subject to xenobiotics or would the xenobiotics subject to the living creatures to enhance and facilitate an increase in life span of the living creatures?
Effective measure regarding the exposure of living creature to noxious xenobiotic will offer a proactive step in averting the menace of xenobiotic in the environment that are dangerous to living creatures as the natural defense system continues to detoxify to maintain balance between reactive oxygen species and antioxidant system; thus, longevity may be upheld.
