Undoubtedly, education is such a jewel of inestimable value. Education can uplift a pauper to become a president. Nowadays, you need to be well-educated before you can lead or be at the helm of affairs in any particular setting. To live a decent life, you need to be a professional in a specific field of human life, and this can only be attained through education. This is why you see toddlers, infants, adolescents, adults, man, woman, young and old hurrying and rushing to one learning environment or the other every blessed day.
In the school, every learner is faced with two different challenges: The purpose of going to school and the necessities found on the school premises or attached to the learning processes.
The purpose of going to school is straightforward and clear. This is to come out with flying colours in examinations and obtain outstanding results.
However, there are many necessities attached to learning in an academic environment which may include but not limited to; participating in sports, students’ clubs, inter-school competitions and inter-house sports competitions, etc.
A student that is very good at playing football, who is also the captain of his school team during sports activities and who also took part actively in various clubs in the school, but in the end such student passed out of the school with poor results has lost his focus. He or she had substituted the purpose of going to school for the necessities found in the school system.
The fact is that a student must not ignore other school activities because he/she aimed at obtaining excellent results. What is required of a talented and focused student is to successfully combine study life with relevant activities on the school compound in order to achieve academic excellence. A student supposes to know his/her body chemistry with regards to self-study. Some pupils cannot read well at night; such learners must endeavour to create adequate time for reading during the day. They should not imitate those who can read well and understand at night when they are playing all day long.
Reading is strongly attached to the success of every student and must be taken seriously. A student who cannot set aside a reasonable proportion of their leisure hours for result-oriented self-study will find it challenging to pass examinations.
Listening attentively to teachers in order to understand concepts that are being taught, asking reasonable questions on ambiguous areas and being obedient to teachers will enable students achieve the purpose of going to school. Also, doing assignments/homework, school projects, group work, and all other activities that aid learning should be parts of the focus of a true learner.
It should be noted that a student who mingled with the unruly pupils or those who were not studious cannot excel in his or her studies. Excellent academic results should always be the main focus of a student.
